FALL RIVER: The Lions Christmas Express is starting to get support for the coming holiday season.
At a recent wing night at the LWF Hall, the volunteer run organization that serves upwards of 100 families each Christmas in the Fall River and Waverley areas was presented a cheque from the Fall River Garden Club.
The Garden Club’s Lawrence Spencer presented the cheque to Jennifer Reed, Stephanie Dube, and Barry Dalrymple, all who are on the Lions Christmas Express.
Spencer said the money that they presented — $500– came from the Garden Club’s annual Plant Sale, held this past June at the LWF Hall, located at 843 Fall River Road in Fall River. It is community operated and has its own volunteer board.
The Lions Christmas Express provides food for Christmas to families who need it from the community, and can only do so with the support from the community such as the Garden Club, local schools, and other businesses.
During the upcoming Dec. 5 parade at 5:30 p.m. please bring a food donation and give it to those collecting along the route from Lockview High to Fall River Shopping Plaza.
