ELMSDALE/ENFIELD: Highway 2 from Elmsdale to Enfield were lined with hundreds-plus residents to get into the spirit of the season with the return of the East Hants Christmas Parade.
With COVID-19 in full blown mode last year and restrictions limiting gatherings in place in 2020, the parade, like many social events like it, were shelved.
With gatherings allowed and some public health measures such as masking and such still in place, people showed they wanted to celebrate the holidays on Saturday afternoon Dec. 4 by lining Hwy 2 for most of the route from the Elmsdale Truck Centre to Enfield Legion. Some of the parade entrants with bigger floats didn’t go to the Legion so they could turn around with more room to do so.
Here’s a look at some of the photos from the parade as snapped by Pat Healey while in Elmsdale before he got to Enfield where he did a live video on The Laker News FB.
Santa waves to the crowd on both sides of the road in Elmsdale shortly after the parade started.
East Hants RCMP were at the front and near the back of the parade, plus had an officer walk for some of the route.
Fire departments from Enfield; Elmsdale; Nine Mile River; and Lantz were in the parade.
This year’s parade was organized by East Hants Crime Prevention.
