LANTZ: The East Hants Ryson Construction Penguins continued their hot start to the season on the weekend, picking up two more N.S. Regional Junior C Hockey League victories.

The Pens defeated Sackville Knights 7-2 on Friday in Lower Sackville, before holding off the Admirals Hockey Club 6-5 on home ice at the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz on Saturday night.

Against Sackville, Garrett MacLean, and Sam Rogers each scored twice to power the offence, and Kings Hockey alum Nolan McLauchlan made 30 of 32 saves in goal for the win.

Ryan Hiltz, Jack Soubliere, and Dylan Rafuse each tallied single helpers.

Assists went to Rogers, Rafuse, Noah Sutherland, and Alex Emery each with two apiece.

Single assists were credited to Hiltz, Callum Lloyd, and Jacob Edwards.

Against the Admirals on Saturday, it took an extra 15 seconds of playing overtime, but the Pens skated off with a 6-5 win thanks to the game winner from Sam Rogers.

It was his second goal of the match and was assisted by Dylan Rafuse and Noah Sutherland.

In regulation, Rafuse had a hat trick, and Sutherland scored the other goal to lead the Penguins attack. Two of Rafuse’s goals were on the power-play, while Sutherland’s was also with the man advantage.

Rogers and Sutherland picked up three assists for the winners as well.

Rafuse had two helpers, while Garrett MacLean and Alex Emery had one assist each.

The line of Rafuse-Rogers-and Sutherland combined for 14 points, including six goals, in the game.

Lisa Mombourquette stopped 35 of 40 pucks sent her way to get the goaltending win.

East Hants is next in action when they host the South Shore Schooners on Oct. 11 at the Keith Miller Arena in the East Hants Sportsplex. Game time is 5 p.m.

The Pens are in Newport on Oct. 12 for a road game against the Titans in a 3 p.m. puck drop.
