MILFORD: In an email home to families on Nov. 21, Public Health informed parents/guardians of students at Hants East Rural High School they’re investigating an additional COVID-19 exposure at the school last week.
The exposure is said to have occurred at the Milford-based school on Nov. 16, 17, 18, and/or Nov. 19.
It says that enhanced measures currently in place at the school will remain in place.
“Public health is not recommending the school be closed at this time,” the email said.
The email home said Public Health has started their investigation.
“Public Health is now working to identify students and staff who may have been exposed as a close contact,” the email reads. “If you are not contacted by Public Health, you are not considered a close contact.”
The email said please continue to review the COVID-19 Daily Checklist each day to closely monitor your health and the health of those you care for. Thank you again for following expert advice provided by Public Health and for coming together to keep our school community safe.
Enhanced measures for HERH, according to the province’s school exposure list link, includes:
• Non-essential visitors, including parents/guardians will not be allowed into the building. This includes the use of our gymnasium by outside groups.
• There will be a limit to extra-curricular activities, including field trips.
• Movement within the building and among classes will be minimized.
• Enhanced cleaning will take place every evening and on the weekend.
“Thanks again for coming together to keep our school safe and for following expert advice from Public Health,” the email concluded.
