BEAVER BANK: At 8:50 p.m. last evening, Halifax District RCMP responded to a report of an assault with a weapon and a man being in possession of firearms at a home in Beaver Bank.
Police responded to the home and after several attempts, two of the three occupants refused to exit the home. With assistance from the RCMP Emergency Response Team (ERT), police entered the home and arrested the two occupants without incident.
A search of the home resulted in the seizure of four firearms. No injuries were reported as a result of the incident and the individuals were known to each other.
Christopher Rae Hanlon, 25, from Beaver Bank, was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court at a later day.
He is charged with the following:
- Careless Use of a Firearm
- Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of a Weapon
- Possession of a Firearm Knowing Possession is Unauthorized
- Forcible Confinement
- Assault with a Weapon
- Uttering Threats
A 54-year-old man was released without charges.
The investigation is ongoing and led by the RCMP/HRP Integrated General Investigation Section of the Criminal Investigation Division.
