FALL RIVER: Darrell Samson has made it official.
The Fall River resident and Liberal MP for Sackville-Preston-Chezzetcook will seek re-election for the riding during the next Federal election, scheduled to be held in 2019.
It had been talked about that he would indeed be running again, however the official word didn’t come until an interview with The Laker at his office above The Vegetorium.
“I reflected with my family because it’s a big commitment to do another up to four more years,” said Samson. “You have to be ready to put that time and energy in.”
Staff at Samson’s office are working on garnering signatures for his paperwork to file his official nomination to run again in the riding.
He said he has enjoyed his first term in office as the area MP.
“It’s been a dream,” he said. “I have always wanted to be a politician, I always wanted to represent the people.
“I’m doing something that I’ve always wanted to do.”
Samson said the federal Liberals have done a lot of good things since taking office in Ottawa.
“I feel our government has done some good work and we’ve had some bumps like any government will, but we’ve learned from them,” he said.
