SASKATOON, SK.: Brian Jones has traded in the double blue of the Toronto Argonauts for the green and white of the Saskatchewan Rough Riders.
Jones, a native of Grand Lake and an alum of the Dragons Minor Football program, was dealt in a trade between the two CFL teams in late August. Toronto received a seventh-round pick in the 2019 CFL Draft in exchange for Jones.
The receiver will take the experience of attending and winning the Grey Cup to the Rough Riders, who are trying to build towards that goal.
Jones, who the Argos selected fourth overall in the 2016 draft, has caught 24 passes for 128 yards and one touchdown in 24 games over three seasons as a pro football player. The 24-year-old has also recorded nine tackles and one blocked punt as a special teams player.
With the Rough Riders since the trade, he has suited up in four games. He had played three with Toronto this year before the trade. He has recorded no receiving or rushing yards with the Riders in the four games; however Jones has made one kick-off return of 15 yards.
