Lions Christmas parade route remaining same

Laker-COMMUNITY

FALL RIVER: The route for the Lions Christmas Parade in Fall River on Nov. 26 will not be changing after all.

Organizers say the route will remain the same as in past years and run from the LWF Hall at 843 Fall River Road down to the Fall River Plaza/Sobeys, ending near the Shoppers Drug Mart.

It was planned to change the route this year due to work from the Fall River water project, however they were not able to obtain a permit for the parade to go down Highway 2 from the old Farmer Clem’s location.

“We were told we couldn’t get a parade permit to close Highway 2 from by Inn on the Lake due to emergency vehicles,” said parade chairman John Bona. “We as a group then decided we would see if we could go back on our regular route.

“We spoke with the contractor for the water project and they said they aren’t working Sundays during the day so it should be no problem.”

Bona is hopeful the community will hear about the change and come on out.

“We hope that the word can get out there in such short notice that we will be remaining where we have in past years, and that the community will come out,” said Bona. “And of course bring a food donation for the Lions Christmas Express for those less fortunate in our community.”

The parade will begin at 1 p.m. All floats are asked to begin lineup at the LWF Hall and Richardson Drive, adjacent to the community hall, at 12 noon. To enter a float please contact Bona by email at jbsamdee@live.com or call (902) 476-8061.
