FLETCHERS LAKE: A 51-year-old woman from Lower Sackville has been identified as the victim of a fatal collision involving a dump truck and a car at the intersection of Highway 2 and Holland Road in Fletchers Lake shortly before 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 20.
Cpl. Jen Clarke, with N.S. RCMP, said the dump truck was travelling north on Highway 2 and the small car was coming from Holland Road. The name of the woman has not been released.
“Another motorist gave medical assistance to the driver of the car, however, the driver, died at the scene,” said Cpl. Clarke.
Highway 2 between Howe Avenue up to near the Wellington Fire hall was shuttered to traffic for about nine hours as RCMP Collision Analyst did their work collecting evidence as part of their investigation.
Firefighters from Station 45 in Fall River, an EHS ambulance and two supervisors, and close to a dozen RCMP cruisers responded to the scene.
Cpl. Clarke said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
“Our thoughts and prayers goes out to the victims family,” she said.
