MILFORD: Here is a look at the March calls for volunteer fire departments in Milford; Indian Brook; Enfield; Elmsdale; Kennetcook; Shubenacadie; Stewiacke; Nine Mile River; and Lantz.
Milford Fire responded to 10 Calls in March, nine of which were to assist Mutual Aid neighbouring departments.
Top calls for Milford were Motor Vehicle Accidents for a total of five. They also were also dispatched to assist Indian Brook Fire on a structure fire, and they assisted Shubenacadie and Indian Brook on two Grass Fires.

Indian Brook Fire had 11 calls for the month, led by five mutual aid response calls to Shubenacadie Fire. They also had three grass fires; and one each of a structure fire; flammable liquid fire; and commercial fire alarm activation.
For Nine Mile River fire, they heard their pagers for three calls. One was a mutual aid request; one a power pole on fire; and one a power lines arcing call.
Stewiacke fire responded to five calls for the month of March, led by two mutual aid response calls to Indian Brook and one mutual aid call to Hilden for a structure fire. They also had a chimney fire and an mvc rollover on Hwy 102.
Elmsdale fire responded to nine calls in the month, led by five motor vehicle collisions. They also had two alarm activations; one fire call; and one power line arcing call.
For Enfield Fire, they heard their pagers go off eight times, with two of those being mutual aid to a neighbouring department calls and two alarm activations. They had single calls for an mvc; a flue fire; a power line fire; and a vehicle fire.
Shubenacadie Fire responded to 14 calls, led by five mvc’s, one of which was a mutual aid call. They also had four grass fire calls, three of which were mutual aid calls; two structure fires (both mutual aid); one chimney fire; one fire alarm activation mutual aid call; and one public assistance.
Uniacke & District fire had 19 calls in March, with two calls each for brush fires; two motor vehicle collisions; and two mutual aid requests. They also heard the tones of their people for one fire (other); one medical assist; one extrication; and one odour/fumes investigation.
The department wishes to thank everyone for their continued support in the weekly 50/50 draw. The firefighters are humbled by the amount of tickets purchased each week in support of Uniacke Fire.
Firefighters in Kennetcook responded to three calls in March, with one each of a chimney fire; a brush fire; and a mutual aid response for a medical assist.
Lantz Fire had eight calls last month. That total was topped by three mvc’s; three structure fires; and two alarm activations.
