FALL RIVER: It didn’t look good early on for the Lockview High Dragons boys football team against the Horton High Griffins.
But whatever the teams coaches told their troops at half-time seemed to light a spark as they went on to the thrilling 24-20 victory on Sept. 22 before the home crowd at the Lockview High football field in Fall River.
The Dragons opened the season with a 58-6 loss to Sir John A, who sit first at 3-0 in the Scotia Conference.
Since then they have rattled off wins of 32-30 over Sackville High; 24-20 over Horton High; and 41-20 over Sydney in Cape Breton on Oct. 1.
Lockview’s three straight wins allow them to sit in second place in the Scotia Conference at 3-1 (won-loss) in their division, with Sir John A just ahead of them.
Lockview high was set to travel to face Dartmouth High on Oct. 6. They will host Halifax West in Fall River on Oct. 15 at 3:30 p.m, and Auburn High on Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. in their regular season finale at home.
The season wraps up Nov. 1, with playoffs beginning Nov. 4.
