WINDSOR JUNCTION: Do you have a creative and artistic side and have a child that will be participating in this year’s Keloose Kids Parade on Aug. 18? Well, this may be the perfect time to use it.
That’s because the child who is determined to have the best decorated bike/person will get to start what is dubbed as the best fireworks show in HRM that night.
Fireworks FX is providing the fireworks, which will once again create some thrills when they go off shortly after 9 p.m.
The traditional Kids Parade will kick the day off on Aug. 18, with participants gathering at the Fall River School of Performing Arts on Windsor Junction Road before being led by Halifax District RCMP down to the Windsor Junction Community Centre (WJCC).
The parade begins at 10 a.m. and is non-motorized.
New this year will be that three judges will use their great judgment in deciding who has the best decorated bike/person and wins the chance to set off the fireworks.
“Our judges this year include Bridget Deveau, LHS and UPEI women’s basketball player Ashleigh Marshall, and local champion water-skier Olivia Chute,” said Keloose chairman Jay Cameron.
Following the short parade, Keloose Kids day will be setup at the WJJCC and begin at 11 a.m., running until 2 p.m.
Kids day fun will include a dunk tank, bouncy castles and other activities from Hyper Amusements; 50/50 tickets for prizes; Tattoos from Krista’; a dart demonstration in the WJCC from Canadian junior women’s darts champion Emily Alford of Beaver Bank; and an autograph session from Windsor Junction’s very own Olivia Chute, who is gearing up for more water-skiing competitions later in August.
There will also be events later in the day. Look for our story next week on that.
