GOFFS: An RCMP cruiser was “extensively” damaged when it flipped and rolled several times on Highway 102 in Goffs late on the night of May 15.

Halifax District RCMP spokesman Cpl. Dal Hutchinson confirmed the collision when The Laker inquired about it. It took place at 11:19 p.m. in the northbound lane, near Exit 5a to the Aerotech Park in Goffs.

“A member of the Halifax District RCMP was responding to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 102 when the police car he was operating hydroplaned, struck a rock wall in the ditch, and rolled several times before coming to rest on its roof,” said Cpl. Hutchinson.

Station 47 (Goffs) and Station 45 (Fall River) firefighters attended the scene. They were released at about 1:15 a.m.

He said the officer sustained minor injuries and was transported by EHS to hospital. They were later released.

The police cruiser, however, was extensively damaged.
