Woman dead after fatal crash in Bedford

    BEDFORD: A passenger of a vehicle that left the road and crashed early this morning, Sept. 30, on Highway 102 near Bedford has died.

    Halifax District RCMP said they responded to the single-vehicle collision. Their preliminary investigation has determined that the 2002 Lexus es300 left the road after the driver attempted to avoid an animal in the roadway.

    “The passenger, a 27-year-old woman of Halifax, was pronounced deceased at the scene,” said Cpl. Dal Hutchinson.

    He added that the driver, a 27-year-old woman, also from Halifax, was transported by EHS to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

    An RCMP Collision Analyst attended the scene and the on-ramp at Exit 3 was closed until 7:30 a.m. The investigation is continuing.

    “Our thoughts are with the victim’s family at this difficult time,” said Cpl. Hutchinson.
