HRM: A man and woman have been charged with Health Protection Act violations in separate incidents in HRM on May 17.
In a release, Halifax District RCMP say at approximately 3 p.m. on May 17, RCMP received a call of a man refusing to wear a mask inside a business on Sackville Dr. in Lower Sackville.
Cpl. Lisa Croteau, with Halifax District RCMP, said police attended and located the man. He received a ticket for failing to wear a mask in a public place.
At 11:30 p.m. on May 17, police were on patrol and stopped a vehicle on Memory Lane in Musquodoboit Harbour.
Police learned that the driver was from Indian Brook. The woman was charged under the Health Protection Act for non-essential travel outside of the municipality where the woman primarily resides.
The tickets for both offences each carry a fine amount of $2,422.00.
Cpl. Croteau said police are reminding everyone to follow all public health orders and municipal bylaws. We all need to do our part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
