LANTZ: Lauren Nickerson of Windsor Junction is one of the two goalies for the Pro Cresting Penguins who play out of the East Hants Sportsplex in Lantz in the Nova Scotia Female Midget Hockey League.
Nickerson’s goaltending mate is from Waverley, Savannah Wheatley.
In this game on Jan. 13 against the Cape Breton Panthers, the Pens lost 7-6.
Against the East Hants Pro Cresting Penguins in Lantz, Aimee O’Neill scored four times, and held off the Penguins in a 13-goal slug-fest between the two Nova Scotia Female Hockey League teams at the East Hants Sportsplex.
O’Neill also chipped in with three assists to complete a seven point night.
Nicole MacNeil, with a power-play tally, was credited with what turned out to be the eventual game winner late in the third. She also had two assists.
Rounding out the scoring for the Panthers, the top team in the NSFMHL, were Belle Jacobs and Stevi Jardine.
Assists went to Jardine with a pair, while single helpers were credited to Erin Denny; Kylie Francis; and Madison Corbett.
For the Pens, Amanda Roache and Claire Renken each scored twice, while Abby Wamboldt and Jenna MacDow each had single markers. Assists went to Wamboldt; Blair Lacroix; Allie Silver, all with two each; while Macy Conrad had one helper.
Taylor Cremo stopped 19 of 27 shots in getting the victory, while Windsor Junction’s Lauren Nickerson was tagged with the loss surrendering seven goals on 38 shots.
