FALL RIVER: The province announced Aug. 7 that it will provide $1 million to the Lebanese Red Cross to support those affected by the Beirut explosion.
“We are all seeing the devastating impact of the tragedy in Beirut,” said Premier Stephen McNeil. “The Lebanese community has deep roots in Nova Scotia. Our hearts go out to Lebanese-Nova Scotians, their families and loved ones and all those affected by the explosion.
“We stand with you and are keeping you in our thoughts.”
The Lebanese Red Cross Society’s mission is to provide relief to victims of natural and human disasters and it helps people prevent, prepare for and respond to emergencies, and to reduce the suffering of the most vulnerable.
