WELLINGTON: Two men from the Wellington area are scheduled to appear in court next month on a slew of charges stemming from a Christmas Eve home invasion at a residence near Oaken Hills.
Cpl. Lisa Croteau said Joshua David Eye, 32, and Jeffrey Gordon Hilchie, 38, will appear in Dartmouth Provincial Court on Feb. 3, 2021. She said just the two have been charged at this time
The two are charged with the following:
- Break and Enter to Steal Firearm
- Assault Causing Bodily Harm
- Possession of Weapon for Dangerous Purpose
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm
- Careless Use of a Firearm
On Dec. 24, the RCMP’s/HRP Integrated Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident that occurred on Highway 2, near Calderwood Drive in Wellington.
In the early morning hours, Halifax District RCMP responded to a call of a home invasion in Wellington. Police arrived to find that the suspects had left the area.
A preliminary investigation revealed the victim was home with two other occupants when three men and a woman, all adults, forced their way into the home and repeatedly punched the man. Items from the residence were taken by the suspects, who then fled.
The victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the attack.
Cpl. Croteau said the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
