FALL RIVER: A young social entrepreneur from Fall River is hoping to honour a fallen N.S. RCMP officer who gave her life last April.
Sarah MacDonald-Miles has created the “Inspiration Bracelet” for Const. Heidi Stevenson, who died in the mass shooting last April in Shubenacadie. Const. Stevenson was with East Hants RCMP, based out of Enfield.
“I wanted to do something to honour Const. Stevenson,” said MacDonald-Miles. “I felt I wanted to help her family in this time of such grief.”
The Inspiration Bracelet is available at Sarah’s website, Links of Love or her Facebook page. They sell for $20.95 each with free shipping anywhere in Canada. $10 of each sale of the bracelet will be donated to the Fallen Officer Fund created by the RCMP Foundation for Const. Stevenson.
MacDonald-Miles, who began Links of Love through being inspired by the ME TO WE program, said officers like Const. Stevenson have inspired her.
“I have aspirations of one day once I am done school at Lockview High and am age eligible to become an RCMP office and inspire youth in our community like Const. Stevenson did,” said MacDonald-Miles. “Heidi’s legacy will live on in all the young girls she had inspired including myself who want to be members of the RCMP.”
Like Const. Stevenson, MacDonald-Miles also wants to be part of the RCMP Musical ride as part of her service.
“I currently am volunteering at Keough Lane Stables in Windsor Junction to enhance my riding skills and learning to jump,” she said.
