FALL RIVER: Kai Dwyer has been named to the Canadian Trampoline Gymnastics team that will compete at the Junior Pan American championships in Bolivia next month.
Dwyer, of Fall River, is one of 16 athletes, four coaches, and four judges that comprise the Maple Leaf team. The event is set for Cochabamba, Bolivia from June 19-23.
The five-day event is expected to feature athletes from seven countries, including Canada, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Mexico, Venezuela, and the United States competing in trampoline gymnastics.
The Junior Pan American Championships take place every two years with the last event being hosted in Daytona Beach, FL in 2016. The Junior Pan American Championships are significant in that they are a major qualification competition for the 2018 Summer Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Dwyer trains out of Titans Gymnastics Club in Halifax.
Stewart Gunn of Dartmouth is one of the four coaches named to the team. He is also from Titans Gymnastics Club.
