HAMILTON, ONT.: A Fall River Dragons Football alum will be donning the gold colours of the Hamilton Ti-Cats for the 2019 season.
Wide Receiver and past Grey Cup champion Brian Jones signed a contract on the opening day of CFL Free agency on Feb. 12, the Ti-Cats announced in a release.
The 24-year-old Jones, who brought the Grey Cup to Fall River after his Toronto Argos won it in 2017, split last year between the Argos and the Saskatchewan Rough Riders. He played three games with Toronto before being dealt to Saskatchewan, where he played in 10 more games.
Overall, Jones compiled two receptions for 20 yards, one kickoff return for 15 yards and three special teams tackles last season.
The six-foot-four, 233-pound native of Grand Lake has appeared in 34 career regular season CFL games with the Argonauts (2016-18) and Roughriders (2018), registering 14 receptions for 148 yards and one receiving touchdown.
He has also contributed on special teams throughout his career, recording 11 special teams tackles, one blocked punt, and two kickoff returns for 15 yards – one of which was a recovered onside kick.
The Acadia University product was selected by the Argos in the first round, fourth overall, in the 2016 CFL Draft and was a member of Toronto’s 2017 Grey Cup championship team.
