Potential COVID19 exposure notification issued for two Elmsdale businesses, Fall River DQ, plus others

ELMSDALE/FALL RIVER: Three businesses in the Elmsdale and Fall River area are among those with COVID19 public exposure notifications issued by Nova Scotia Health on April 17.

LilyPond Vintage Furniture & Home Décor on Hwy 2 in Elmsdale; the Elmsdale Sobeys; and Fall River Dairy Queen are among the nine locations in the Central and Northern zones on the list. It also includes three flights.

Speaking with Peggy Rust, manager/franchisee of the Fall River Dairy Queen, she confirmed it was a customer, not a staff member, that was in the location between 4:30 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on April 15. She said staff who had direct contact with customers not staff who were not in the dining room, including herself, had tests this afternoon or are scheduled for tomorrow morning and are home self-isolating.

She said Public Health confirmed the exposure in a call this afternoon, April 17.

“We watched cameras back and ascertained what staff had contact with customers,” said Rust. “As always we have strong covid protocols in place with masks, stringent hand washing and disinfecting of high contact surfaces.

“We take safety protocols serious and always have.”

For the potential exposure at the DQ, Public Health noted: “Anyone who worked at or visited the following locations on the specified date and time should immediately visit covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/ to book a COVID-19 test. You can also call 811 if you don’t have online access or if you have other symptoms that concern you.

Regardless of whether or not you have COVID-19 symptoms, those present at the following locations on the named dates and times are required to self-isolate while waiting for their test result. If you get a negative result, you do not need to keep self-isolating. If you get a positive result, you will be contacted by Public Health about what to do next.”

The potential exposure at LilyPond at 589 Hwy 2 in Elmsdale took place April 15 between 5:30 p.m. and 7 p.m., Public Health said.

Public Health said the potential COVID19 exposure at the Elmsdale Sobeys occurred between 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m. on April 15.

For those potential exposures at LilyPond and Elmsdale Sobeys, Public Health noted: “Anyone who worked at or visited the following locations on the specified dates and times should immediately visit covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/ to book a COVID-19 test, regardless of whether or not they have COVID-19 symptoms. You can also call 811 if you don’t have online access or if you have other symptoms that concern you.

If you do not have any symptoms of COVID-19 you do not need to self-isolate while you wait for your test result. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 you are required to self-isolate while you wait for your test result.”

Besides LilyPond and the Sobeys, the following fall in that category:

• Halifax Shopping Centre (7001 Mumford Rd Unit #722, Halifax) on April 13 between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 27.
• Walmart Bayers Lake (220 Chain Lake Dr, Halifax) on April 13 between 5:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 27.
• Sackville Public Library (636 Sackville Dr, Lower Sackville) on April 14 between 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and April 15 between 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 29.
• Lawton’s Drugs & Canada Post Outlet (157 Cobequid Rd, Lower Sackville) on April 15 between 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 29.
• Michael’s Dartmouth Crossing (15 Lemlair Row Rd, Dartmouth) on April 16 between 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 30.

Besides the DQ, Public Health said the following falls into the need to self-isolate regardless if a person has COVID-19 symptoms, those present at the following locations on the named dates and times are required to self-isolate while waiting for their test result. If you get a negative result, you do not need to keep self-isolating. If you get a positive result, you will be contacted by Public Health about what to do next.

• Boston Pizza (1858 Granville St, Halifax) on April 13 between 7:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus at this location on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 27.

Anyone who was on the following flights in the specified rows and seats should visit https://covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/en to book a COVID-19 test, regardless of whether or not they have COVID-19 symptoms. You can also call 811 if you don’t have online access or if you have other symptoms that concern you.

• Air Canada flight 624 travelling on April 14 from Toronto (9:30 p.m.) to Halifax (12:05 a.m. April 15). Passengers in rows 20-26 seats A, C and D are asked to immediately visit https://covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/en to book a COVID-19 test, regardless of whether or not they have COVID-19 symptoms. All other passengers on this flight should continue to self-isolate as required and monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on this flight on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 29.

• Air Canada flight 604 travelling on April 16 from Toronto (8:11 a.m.) to Halifax (11:10 a.m.). Passengers in rows 2-13 seats C, D, E and F are asked to immediately visit https://covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/en to book a COVID-19 test, regardless of whether or not they have COVID-19 symptoms. All other passengers on this flight should continue to self-isolate as required and monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on this flight on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 30.

• West Jet flight 3346 travelling on April 16 from Toronto (9:00 a.m.) to Halifax (12:21 p.m.). Passengers in rows 1-7 seats A, B and C are asked to immediately visit https://covid-self-assessment.novascotia.ca/en to book a COVID-19 test, regardless of whether or not they have COVID-19 symptoms. All other passengers on this flight should continue to self-isolate as required and monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID-19. It is anticipated that anyone exposed to the virus on this flight on the named date may develop symptoms up to, and including, April 30.

Please remember:

Do not go directly to a COVID-19 assessment centre without being directed to do so. Please book an appointment online or call 811 and do not go to a pop-up rapid testing location.

Currently, anyone who traveled outside of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador is expected to self-isolate alone for 14 days after arriving. If a person returning from non-essential travel outside of Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island or Newfoundland and Labrador is unable to isolate alone, then everyone in the home where they are isolating will have to self-isolate as well.
