FALL RIVER: Two local hockey players heard their name called last month during the Maritime Junior A Hockey League draft, hosted by the Amherst Ramblers.
Kyle Sexton and Alex Allain, both of Fall River, were selected by in the sixth and eighth rounds respectively. Sexton was taken by the Yarmouth Mariners, while Allain went to the Pictou County Weeks Crushers.
Sexton is a five-foot-seven, 140-pound left winger who played last year with the Dartmouth Steele Subaru Major Midgets. In 38 games played, he had 11 goals and 22 assists, while in the playoffs he recorded five goals and five assists over 11 games.
Allain, who is listed at five-foot-nine, 150-pounds, also suited up with the Steele Subaru Major Midgets out of Dartmouth. He recorded seven goals and 18 assists in 38 regular season games, while tallying two goals and three helpers in 10 post-season contests.
