FALL RIVER: The next part of the construction process for the Fall River water project is set to begin and with it so does the continuation of traffic delays.

In a release on Sept. 20, Halifax Water provided a heads up to motorists in the Fall River that Dexter Construction, on behalf of them, will be working in and around the intersection of Fall River Road and Highway 2 beginning Sunday, September 23.

The work will continue to approximately Sept. 27; if required it may resume the following week. Additional notification will be provided if that is needed.

James Campbell, Halifax Water spokesman, said the this work will require stop-and-go, single lane traffic from the intersection of Fall River Road and Hwy 2 to the Fall River Road bridge. It will extend on Hwy 2 to civic #3319 and 3264.

The construction will take place between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m. During the road work at the intersection, the traffic lights will be shut down.

However, between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. the traffic lights will be in use and operational, during non-construction activity.

“Experienced traffic control personnel will be on-site to ensure smooth traffic flow around the work zone,” said Campbell. “On-site personnel will also maintain communication with local residents and businesses to help minimize disruption.

Campbell said motorists should expect delays, and reminded them that speed fines double in work zones.
