SYRACUSE, N.Y.: A Fall River hockey player who laces them up with her NCAA Division III team earned Player of the Week Honours in late November from the Northeast Women’s Hockey League.
Micayla MacIntyre, who suited up in Nova Scotia with the then Pro Cresting Penguins out of Lantz (the now Bussy Auto Penguins), earned the honours for game performance with the SUNY Canton Roos from Nov. 22 to Nov. 28.
The announcement was made on Nov. 30 that she won the award.
The Roos captain had six points during the games in that period which saw her notch three goals and add three assists. MacIntyre also had two blocked shots and a plus-+6 plus/minus during a pair of road wins against Neumann.
SUNY Canton improved their record to 5-01- (won-loss-tied), a milestone best start for the program in its history.
MacIntyre opened the week with a goal and assist in a 7-1 blasting of the Knights on Nov. 23, in Aston, Pa.
She finished the two-game road set by tallying a pair of power play goals – including the game-winner – and contributing two assists in a 5-2 win over Neumann on Nov. 24.
The senior captain now leads the Roos with 12 points and is tied for the team-lead with seven assists and two power play scores.
